Enhancement Of the Body's Immunity System in Facing the Covid-19 Pandemic
Enhancement Of the Body's Immunity System
in Facing the Covid-19 Pandemic
In this era of COVID-19, maintaining
our immune system is a way to avoid infections and viral diseases, including
COVID-19. One way to go about it is to maintain a healthy lifestyle. One form
of healthy living is eating nutritious food, exercising regularly, and getting
enough rest (Susilo et al., 2020). Increasing endurance is significant to
maintaining a healthy body. A great immune system is the best way to combat various
viruses (Amalia et al., 2020).
Based on (Arshad et al., 2020) foods
that can increase immunity are those that contain magnesium, such as black
beans and avocados. Black beans and avocado can help the hemoglobin in the
blood quickly deliver oxygen from the lungs to the rest of the human body. In
addition, the benefits of nutritious food can increase endurance and cytokines.
These are important to be applied during the COVID-19 pandemic to maintain
immunity.
According to researchers from the
National Institute of Health (2016), exercise is an activity that can increase
stamina. Associate Professor of Sports Science at Wayne State University has
reviewed the effect of exercise on the immune system. Marian Fahlman said,
"This study shows that people who do not exercise at all are at greater
risk for contracting COVID-19 than people who exercise intensively "
Marian Fahlman, one of the researchers at Wayne State University, said. Exercise benefits are increasing insulin sensitivity, improving cognitive function,
increasing responses to psychosocial stress, and preventing depression (Marian
Fahlman; 2021). This is essential during a pandemic because it can reduce the
risk of cardiovascular disease and its severity due to the formation of the
immune system due to sufficient effects.
Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)
is an infectious disease with the main symptoms of fever, cough, flu, and
dyspnea. The key to breaking the chain of COVID-19 transmission is awareness
from all elements of society. In addition, maintaining body immunity during the
pandemic is also very important in preventing the transmission of COVID-19.
Boosting immunity can be obtained easily through nutritious foods, exercising,
and getting enough sleep.
