Essay Definition

Essay is a type of written work that contains a combination of facts and opinions. Essays are more subjective from the author's point of view, which are analytical, speculative, and interpretive. Meanwhile, according to the Big Indonesian Dictionary, the notion of an essay is a prose essay that discusses a problem from the author's point of view in passing.

Essay Structure

a)     Introduction

The introduction is an introduction to the reader to understand the topic to be discussed so that later it will be easier for readers to understand the content of the essay.

b) Discussion / Content

The discussion or content is the part that explains the theme or topic of the essay in detail and detail. In this section, the author can describe the opinions that are in the author's head to be poured chronologically or sequentially according to the ideas that have been compiled in the framework of an essay.

c) Closing or Conclusion

Being the final part in an essay, this closing or conclusion becomes a point in the form of a sentence that summarizes the important things that have been reviewed in the introductory and discussion chapters.

Steps to Make an Essay

1. Determine the theme or topic that the author wants to talk about.

2. Make an outline or outline of a predetermined topic so that the discussion is focused.

3. Write your opinion as a writer briefly and concisely but clearly.

4. Start writing the body of the essay and can start by selecting the important points to be discussed.

5. Compose the first paragraph which will act as an introduction.

6. Compile the conclusion section and become an important part because when writing an opinion, it is mandatory to give a conclusion at the end.
